CCHS Newsletter 41 - 6th December 2021
Weekly Message from Mr Harding, Executive Head Teacher
We have two weeks remaining of the autumn term and, as is traditional, our exam groups have started their mock process.  Whilst it's not ideal to have these just before Christmas we do know from the previous years that grades acquired during any mock exam process may well be helpful in assessing grades next year.  Whilst we have been told that there will be exams next year, and that is the assumption that we have been working on, the pandemic has taught us to have a Plan B (and C, D and E) just in case.  So I would urge all of our exam groups to put as much effort into the upcoming exams as possible and then look forward to a (hopefully) relaxing Christmas.
We have been directed by the government to reintroduce masks in school communal areas, corridors etc. Whilst it's not ideal I would urge all parents to ensure their children are aware of the reason for the return of masks and to make sure they have a mask each and every morning.

Reminder of Covid Rules
Following Government guidance issued over the weekend, ALL staff and students from Year 7 and above (unless exempt) must now wear masks in all indoor social areas and corridors.

Parents of Year 9 students who are exempt from wearing masks should contact the school on so that we can update our mask exemption list and issue those students with a mask exemption card.

A message has being sent out to parents.
At present there are no further updates.

Visit to Warner Bros Studios
Last week a group of 34 year 12 and 13 Business students were lucky enough to visit Warner Bros Studios in London to see the Making of Harry Potter Studio Tour.  Students participated in a Movie Marketing workshop where they looked at the Marketing and Promotional Mix for a variety of movies and then students got to create their own mix for a movie of their choice.  They then got to explore the studio, and with all the Christmas decorations up and on display it got everyone in the festive spirit!!
A very enjoyable day had by all!
Rugby Round-Up

Y9 Rugby fixture vs.King Edwards High, Lichfield

On 2nd December the Year 9 rugby team took on King Edwards High School from Lichfield in their first rugby game of the year.   For some of the boys it was their first game of rugby ever.

For their first game on the new CCHS rugby pitch the Year 9 boys played a very strong King Edwards team in the Staffordshire Schools Cup.  Although they lost, the lads showed incredible determination, resilience and sportsmanship throughout.  The  most important thing was that the lads absolutely loved it.

They will be playing again on 14th December, away at
Queen Mary's, Walsall.

Pre-Loved Football Boots
Do you have any pre-loved football boots that are no longer needed?
The PE department would be delighted to take them off your hands.
We are gratefully accepting boots with studs, blades or astro. boots.
They will be used for students who forget their own football boots.

Students can bring them in to the PE department.

Many thanks

Have your circumstances changed recently?

Parents claiming some benefits can claim free school meals for any of their children who are registered at a Staffordshire school and who would normally be at school at lunch time. School meals are a good way to ensure that your child eats well at lunchtime and you can save yourself time and money.

Even if you don't want your children to have the meals, claiming them helps their school. The more eligible parents who claim meals, the more funding the school receives.

The phone number for the free school entitlement checking service team has changed.  Should you need to contact them regarding any claims queries, their number is now 0300 111 8007 option 3, then option 2
