CCHS Newsletter 42 - 13th December 2021
Weekly Message from Mr Harding, Executive Head Teacher
As we head into the last week of term it's apparent that there may well be some changes to the way we operate as a school in the new year.  I will be sending out a separate letter to parents in the next few days which will detail how the first few days back in January will have to operate now that the government has instructed us that all children should be tested upon their return to school.
The Autumn term is always a long term but it has felt like a positive and hopeful step forward.  I hope that this continues to be the case as we move into Spring.
As ever, I'm very grateful to the parents that take time to call or write to school to thank us for many varied reasons, it is very much appreciated.
I hope that everyone has a safe, restful and CoVid free Christmas and New Year!

Football Round-Up
Year 10 Football - Staffordshire Cup

On 1st December the Year 10 football team took part in the Staffordshire Cup.  Their game was away to Rawlett School, Tamworth.

They played very well and were rewarded with a bit 6-0 win.  Two first half goals apiece for Ricky S and Alfie H meant they were 4-0 up at half time.  A superbly taken hat trick goal for Ricky S and a wonderful strike from Jenson B in the second halt meant they moving into the next round of the Staffordshire Cup.
Well done fellas!

Mr Hales
Year 9 - English Schools Cup

This week the Year 9 B football team made it through to the last 16 of the English Schools Cup after beating Meole Brace School in Shrewsbury.  The match finished as a 1-1 draw on a pitch that had more mud than grass.  The boys finally won 4-2 on penalties with captain Isaac G scoring the winning penalty.
Great job lads!

Pre-Loved Football Boots
Do you have any pre-loved football boots that are no longer needed?
The PE department would be delighted to take them off your hands.
We are gratefully accepting boots with studs, blades or astro. boots.
They will be used for students who forget their own football boots.

Students can bring them in to the PE department.

Many thanks

Have your circumstances changed recently?

Parents claiming some benefits can claim free school meals for any of their children who are registered at a Staffordshire school and who would normally be at school at lunch time. School meals are a good way to ensure that your child eats well at lunchtime and you can save yourself time and money.

Even if you don't want your children to have the meals, claiming them helps their school. The more eligible parents who claim meals, the more funding the school receives.

The phone number for the free school entitlement checking service team has changed.  Should you need to contact them regarding any claims queries, their number is now 0300 111 8007 option 3, then option 2
