Hello <<First Name>>,
This is an exciting time to be updating you on ecoPULSE projects. There's so much to celebrate!
UK EXHIBITION >> Next week, the first MOSSES AND MARSHES exhibition will be opening in the UK at Qube Gallery, Oswestry on 1 October (see the flyer below). We've now spent weeks putting together works and developing the documentation that goes with shows like this. There are still many small details to see to over the next week, but I'm sure you join me in wishing Andrew Howe all the very best in pulling things together in the exhibition space, while I watch from afar. We have an ARTIST TALK scheduled on Zoom for 7pm AEDT/ 9am GMT on 14 October, with thanks to support from Orana Arts. REGISTER HERE
THE BOOK >> The MOSSES AND MARSHES book has been in play for a few months now under the guidance of our editor, Dr Liz Charpleix. We've hit the print button and copies should be available by mid-October here. At 112 pages, it's packed full of information about the project and the wetlands, with contributions from Dave Pritchard of the Culture Network of the Ramsar Convention on Wetlands, our curators Gudrun Filipska and Jamie-Lea Trindall, and ecological, environmental and cultural contributions. It is full of photos from both sites, artworks including QR codes to soundscapes, and quotes from the Mosses and Marshes communities, who generously shared their stories with us. It'll be A$25 + P&H. I'm taking pre-orders if you want to email me.

BLOG UPDATE >> The latest post on the blog that has documented MOSSES AND MARSHES since the beginning, outlines what the last few weeks have been like. The title pretty much says it all — Simply start where you are when art making is a crushing chore! This is not in judgement of my collaborators. It's just how it is.
REIMAGINED FUTURES >> We've claimed the date on a major public event as part of MOSSES AND MARSHES — an International Panel Discussion looking at alternative values for special environments like the Mosses and Marshes that might help inform and shape their future, is being held on Thursday, 11 November at 7pm AEDT/ 9am GMT (note change on GMT time from first announcement), on Zoom. This is an ecoPULSE event in partnership with Dubbo Regional Council's Cultural Development team. We're announcing our six guest panelists later this week and registrations will open then too.

INHALARE >> As a valued ecoPULSE supporter you're the first to hear this, but as MOSSES AND MARSHES amps up, a new ecoPULSE project is getting underway thanks to a recently awarded COVID Development Grant from the NSW Government through Create NSW. These grants aim to provide targeted support and mitigate the impact of disruption on the development of new works and collaborations at a time when many artists are suffering loss of income and opportunities. Under the project title, Inhalare/ breathe upon, six artists from across regional NSW (including me as lead artist) have been collectively awarded $5,000 to undertake sound and text based works celebrating natural environments in our backyards. This is Stage 1 of a multi-staged project that will also include visual art responses to the sound/text works. There'll be more on this, including who the Stage 1 artists are, as the project gets underway in October. But that leads me to the next item...
YOUR SUPPORT >> To fund Stage 2 of Inhalare/ breathe upon, I'm looking for crowdfunding contributions over the next few months to cover the cost of paying visual artists. $600 supports one artist in this project. I've just received my first Australian Cultural Fund payment for the money raised to date in what's a 12 month campaign. All donations will go towards this project until February 2022 by which stage, the visual artists should be getting underway. For those wishing to donate on behalf of someone else i.e. a Christmas gift donation, email me about how I might provide a certificate that signifies the donation made on their behalf. The donation button is below.
There's a lot happening in the run to Christmas. Despite the impacts of COVID and our restricted movement in NSW, there's a sense of purpose and energy with the creative activity happening in this space. Thank you, for your ongoing support.
