Welcome back to the Skate Park!
We are excited to welcome you back to the Recreation Youth Centre and Sk8 Park. We are open Tuesdays to Saturdays from 1 to 7 p.m. for open skate sessions only (no registered programs or lessons at this time). Youths will be able to ride free of charge. Pre-register for your time slot in advance as there will be limited walk-in spots. New safety protocols have been put in place and all visitors are required to wear a face mask/covering when inside the building (except when riding) and stay at least 6ft./2m. apart at all times.

Magna Fitness Centre reopening on August 26
The Magna Fitness Centre is set to reopen on August 26. Fitness Membership payments will resume on September 1. Members will only be charged 50% of their membership cost for the month of September, in recognition of limited services being offered at this time. If you would like to continue to keep your membership on hold, please email fitness@newmarket.ca by August 30.

Tune into the Newmarket's Anti-Black Racism Workshop on August 25 
The Town, alongside the Newmarket African Caribbean Canadian Association (NACCA) will be hosting a Council Workshop titled Towards Racial Equity: Examining Anti Black Racism in Canada on August 25, 2020 from 1 to 3 p.m., streamed online at newmarket.ca/meetings. This online workshop will explore how racism impacts out workplace and community by looking through the lens of Black, Indigenous and People of Colour communities. Everyone is encouraged to participate in this workshop so we can continue to effect change in our community.

Property taxes due on August 26 
The next due date for property taxes is on August 26. Please do not pay in-person at any Town building or facility as they remain closed. You can pay by phone, online or in-person at your banking institution or by mailing in a cheque to the Municipal Offices or dropping off a cheque at the Municipal Offices drop off box. 

If you need more time to make a payment, you can participate in the Town's Financial Relief plan. No interest or penalties will be charged until January 1, 2021.

Recycle your unwanted textiles at a York Region Waste Depot

While Newmarket's textile recycling program has not yet resumed, you can still donate your unwanted textiles by bringing them to select York Region Waste Depots. Check to see what items are accepted before donating.

Temporary closure of Thornton Bales Conservation Area Parking Lot
The Lake Simcoe Region Conservation Area is temporarily closing the Thornton Bales Conservation Area parking lot (on 19th Sideroad) until September 4 to make improvements to the area to ensure it is fully accessible.
