Many of you will have suffered hurt in the last 9 months at the hands of Covid, and some to the extent that writing about our journey will seem trivial. We all probably feel that we have a book within us to reveal the challenges of the last 9 months. Without your support, and the extent it was shown, we certainly would have failed to survive.

Like so many business, we have come through many difficult times with our teams. We’ve had to make hard decisions on the hoof, pitting our wits against future uncertainty. Our key moments have been the announcements of the original furlough scheme saving many jobs, getting together our meal kits, handing back St.John’s Chop House to the landlord, the granting of a CBILS loan, firing up Cambscuisine volunteers, reopening safely and delivering ‘Eat out to help out’, closing – reopening, delivering Christmas in T2 restrictions and the latest announcements forcing us to close the premises under T4.
Our Cambscuisine Community fund has raised £45,000 supporting local community initiatives giving people ‘a second chance’ in life. (We missed our target of £70,000 but we surely would have smashed it had we been open all year!). We have supported local food projects throughout Covid and lock downs, most recently over Christmas delivering meals to local homes.

We have been active and energised, have supported our suppliers and have saved 80% of jobs. It has been challenging but actually pretty rewarding in that we have survived, adapted and are here to tell a tale.
We look ahead to 2021 with a real sense of purpose. Internally we keep discussing Easter Sunday as a turning point – early April! The sun will be out, our gardens will be coming to life and we, once again, envisage our places brimming with hospitality. Meanwhile we continue to provide our meal kits into your homes and hope to reopen our Pubs and Restaurants soon!

Thank you so much for helping us achieve what we have in 2020, and may we wish you a very happy and healthy 2021.

Cambridge Chop House Meal Kits delivered straight to you door.
