MEMBERSHIP DRIVE OF 2015

Hello Current Members of PNASD, we are issuing you a challenge!

This year of 2015, the PNASD is striving to gain at least 50 new members into the PNASD before the end of this year.

We are working toward our Association’s transition into a 503c tax status for our San Diego Chapter.   The PNASD accepts members who are of any race, color, religion, creed, gender, national origin, disability, marital or veteran status, or any other legally protected status.

We are strongly encouraging each of you to reach out to a minimum of TWO:

Co-workers   -   Colleagues   -   Nursing students   -   Retired nurses
  • Both non-Filipino and Filipino nurses
  • LVN – BSN – MSN – Ph.D. – DNP status
  • Any field of nursing practice
  • Anywhere in San Diego County

Provide them a hard copy membership form or this PNASD website link http://www.pnasd.org/Membership%20Application%20Brochure%202015.pdf and encourage them to join.

We want to see an increased number of members and for all members to volunteer, attend business meetings, join committees, and attend our functions throughout the year.

Please keep track of what nurses you refer.  A special treat will be given to the current PNASD member who recruits the most new members!

Thank you to everyone,

Mollie Nunn, RN                       Merlie Ramira, DNP, APRN, FNP-BC, CEN

PNASD Celebrated Nurses Week

On Saturday, May 2, 2015, PNASD celebrated nurses’ week with members and their families with a breakfast brunch at Cocina Del Charro in Escondido. Corsages for the ladies and buttoinnaires for the gentlemen were given out. PNASD President, Dr. Merlie Ramira spoke welcomed all the attendees. Deacon Manny Porciuncula led the celebration with prayers.

Members of Philippine Nurses Association of South Riverside County (PNASRC) with President Benita “Beets” Valle were also in attendance. With an abundance of delicious food and spirit of camaraderie among the group everyone had enough hangover for fun to last for sometimes.

Some of the members and officers donated gifts for our opportunity drawing. Dorothy and Bob Brown, PNASD official photographers were running rugged taking photo shoots of the members, officers, and board of directors. As nurses, we have to recognize each other and be grateful for all the blessings that we have received and be united in providing quality care to all our patients.

Thank you to the organizers of this successful event, Cece Echon, and Chona Lutap.

Upcoming Events!
Join us at the Balboa Park Centennial Celebration!
We need YOU for assistance in the first aid station.

This is one in a lifetime opportunity to see a lot of our Kababayan's, which proves the meaning of what the Historian's call "Filipino  & Filipino - American Diaspora".  It is showcasing a history of the Filipino American experience in Balboa Park, San Diego, and beyond!

We were given a chance by the HISTORIC SOCIETY of San Diego remembering the first & official opening of BALBOA PARK. As you can see, this means the visit of other nationalities, ethnicities, color and most importantly, CULTURES that had the same experience as we did.

There are ten Filipino - American Community Based Organizations (CBO) that are participating in this event. COPAO is one of them, and since PNASD is one of its member organization, along with SAMAHAN and PASACAT, and others  - House of the Philippines, Malaya Filipino American Dance & Arts, Nars Babao Martial Arts, Pakaraguian Kulintangdin Ensemble of San Diego, and some coming from L.A. and its environs make it more exciting!!

We have Martin Nievera (Friday night) and Jessica Sanchez (Saturday Night) coming to perform. All of the performances are free and will be at the organ pavilion!

PNASD's FIRST AID STATION  will be in back of the ORGAN PAVILION!

Let's make this a FUN and MEMORABLE experience by giving of our time, not just by serving in the First Aid Station but also as a participant in this wonderful celebration.

You may already gathered by now that "we" are just one of the groups that are going to be there. If you have been listening to the news, the City of San Diego is spearheading this, and naturally it goes without saying that the County is very involved as well!

Bring your family, friends, and neighbors!! There are many activities and performances that will make your day!
We need the cooperation and understanding of all PNASD officers and Board Members in this community event. There are multiple volunteer shifts. If you would like to volunteer in our First Aid booth, please contact Cris Ramos at crisabelramos@gmail.com or Ate Merly. Let them know when you will be available on this schedule:
