CreativeMornings with The Alexanders

Friday 25 July, 8:00am - 9.30am
City Conference Centre, WA Building, AUT University

Each of us is born into this world with existing personal characteristics. We are born into a family whose status and culture are set. Over time we are nurtured. Eventually we fly the nest, plant our own seeds and the cycle continues. How does “who our ancestors were” play into who we, our children and future generations become ?

Who better to delve into the subject of Heritage than a family of creative entrepreneurs - Elliot, Kate and Grant Alexander.

Elliot, Kate and Grant will take us into their personal worlds, examining how ‘Heritage' has influenced their past and may influence their future.

Join us on Friday July 25th for a visual journey of creativity through the generations. Tickets are available from 11am Monday July 21st.

SPEAKER BIOS

Having worked closely for 5 plus years The Alexander family now each run their own individual businesses in the creative industries through which they find ways to collaborate and share.

Elliot (Son & Brother) started the hugely popular art print store, endemicworld. Grant (Dad) runs Studio Alexander, an awarded brand strategy and design studio. Kate (Daughter & Sister) is forging a name for her interior styling company, Places & Graces, after a successful career in graphic design.

Sue (Mum & Wife) works part-time in two of the businesses, and Toby (Brother & Son) chips in from afar.

JULY IS HERITAGE

We’re getting back to our roots this month as we talk about Heritage across 85+ CreativeMornings chapters around the world, brought to you by MailChimp. The theme was chosen by the organizer our Cape Town team and depicted by Nigerian-born, Brooklyn-based illustrator Olaleken Jeyifous.

Speakers this month will look at what heritage means to fostering creativity, building a business, and leaving a legacy.

VENUE HOST

This month we’re hosted by one of our main partners, AUT University. Though they may be New Zealand’s newest university their history in industry-relevant education is over 110 years old. Established as a university in 2000 by the governor general, AUT is the youngest of the 8 New Zealand universities and the only one to be established since the 1960s.

AUT is a contemporary university, with a distinctive approach to teaching and learning, focused on providing student-centred, innovative and responsive learning experiences.
