Bonjour.

Happy Thursday. I hope this note finds you taking a moment for yourself, possibly even a sacred pause or pondering your legacy


This week has been one of interesting challenges: from an intoxicated teacher of a class I'd been looking forward to for months, to a cancelled class in NYC that I found out about while commuting up {here's my memoir homework}, to concern over le pug's health {all turned out good}, to being so excited about a new ballet wrap that I cut into the package quickly, leaving two diamond-shaped holes in the garment.

Ever have those weeks where all you do can is laugh {or cry} about the circumstances? It becomes almost comical. At least that's how I see it once I get past the shock.

Saturday night I took some creative time to work on my February dreams {see below} and play in my art journal {see above}. It felt so good to set aside time for creative space. After coming across the magazine Flow, picking up a new sketchbook, and some glittery valentines, I was feeling inspired.

Finally, as we move deeper into a month focused on love, I encourage you to spend some time basking in self-care. I've always found February to be the hardest month of the year in DC. We're ready for spring, feeling lethargic, and have moved beyond the excitement of a brand new year. This is where your practice of self-love in the form of deep care can reap great rewards.

Go to a ballet. Pen a love note to yourself. Soak in the tub. Volunteer. Make perfume. Host a tea party. Sleep in. Curl up with a good book for hours. Watch the snow fall. Write your life story. Sip tea and do nothing else. Tune into Tranquility du Jour podcast for over 300 episodes of inspiration. Call a good friend.
