This month I had the opportunity to speak to a community group here in Vancouver. My talk was about the parallels between the process of creating a painting and the process of creating one’s life. I spoke about the journey of art and life in 3 sections: inspiration, creation, and execution. It was interesting to observe the groups reaction and involvement when I reached the third section: execution. Particularly, as I spoke about the importance when artists show up in the world for themselves and their work, how we must learn to stand up for ourselves, ask for what we want and deserve, and set boundaries. This is something I have been learning and practicing a lot lately. I am excited to move forward in my career and also empower other artists to take a stand and ask for and receive what they are worth for their work, efforts, and talents.
I dedicate this newsletter to your and my creative empowerment!
