Dear <<First Name>>
Welcome to the November 2015 edition of your BNI Australia Newsletter.
“New Year, New You!” shouts one of the most popular (and some cynics might say overused) marketing slogans you will hear around this time of year. New Year’s Resolutions … it’s a subject ripe with opportunities to reel in the gullible and those who want a quick, easy fix. For me, it brings up a kind of sadness, because most of the products and services touted in this manner promise much, but often disappoint. Because valuable things are not attained quickly, and they require effort on our part.
So this month I’d like to talk about what each one of us can do ourselves – do proactively, put some effort into – to make the 2016 the one we want it to be, and see ourselves and our businesses thrive.
New Year, New Networking … New Chapters
“How do the 180,000 global BNI members (in 60+ diverse countries) manage to generate as much as $8.5+ billion worth of business a year? How and why can these numbers steadily grow? What’s the secret … and how can I get a piece of that very impressive pie?“
These are typical questions many of our members across Australia get asked in one form or another each week.
If you know someone who is interested in having those queries answered – over the next few months there are multiple BNI Discovery Webinars and live events happening where all will be explained. The how of BNI and why it works so well, what to do to join or start a chapter, and much more. Ask your regional director for plans for your area.
BNI Sydney CBD director Bob Greenup’s team runs BNI Discovery Webinars on the last Wednesday of each month, for 60 minutes from 5:30pm - 6:30pm for those interested in being part of the New Year build-process.
BNI Melbourne Central, West & Geelong will be holding a 01 December event. Find more info and how to book here.
Respect & Make The Most of Your Time
So, you travel a lot, do you? Meetings, business trips, commuting to and from your office ... we all deal with some or all of those.
Are you wasting valuable time and just leave it for dead?
In her article 6 Ways to Get More Done While Traveling, Jacqueline Whitmore shares useful ideas on how to use your travel time effectively – to reduce that last-minute preparation rush and melt the mountain of chores that usually greets you when you get back to the office. Useful stuff!
Successful People Are Accountable
BNI Connect made it downunder this year. The collective relieved sighs of Leadership Team members could be heard from across the country, as their admin workload suddenly shrunk significantly around referral, closed business and one-on-one entries!
We all have had a few months to find our way around this useful new site, but there’s much to discover for every member. The most accountable BNI members – who diligently track their activities – are also the most successful ones in monetary terms.
So set some time aside to boost your business! This recorded webinar will walk you through useful reports and functions open to all BNI members on BNI Connect.
TIP: Book it in your calendar now, so you won’t forget!
De-Stress With Networking
Question: what’s the most important asset in your business? …
Now, how many of you answered “me”? Be honest. Do you realise that nothing will ever be as valuable to your business as your own time and your health? Everything else you can hire, buy or borrow – but your time and health are limited resources your business cannot survive without.
In his thought-provoking article Networking: Getting Involved In Your Community, respected small business coach and author Roland Hanekroot, argues that surrounding yourself with like-minded people will reduce your stress levels – and is one of the best business decisions you ever make. Guaranteed.
What New Year’s Resolutions do you have your eye on – and are already planning or working towards? Would you like to have more fun in business? Do you have any tips for effective business development you’d like to tell us about? Share your thoughts and ideas with us – email firstname.lastname@example.org for a chance to see your comments on our Facebook page or blog.
Until soon, in your next BNI newsletter edition.
