SING, TALK, READ, WRITE and PLAY:
Building Your Child’s Early Literacy Skills
SING: Sing the alphabet, nursery rhymes or favorite songs. Listen to music
and clap along.
TALK: Children need to receive and create language to learn to talk so... even if your child isn't yet talking, take turns having back and forth interactions! With bigger kids, take turns while talking.
READ: Make time to read together everyday!
WRITE: Practice beginning drawing and writing with crayons, pencils, and markers. If it involves mark making of some kind, it’s writing!
PLAY: Children experience the world through play. Encourage your child to explore their environment.
