Welcome to our first Newsletter!
We have all had a lovely first week here at Barton Park. The children have all settled well into their new classrooms and new school day routines.

A big THANK YOU to Philips Tyres and Homebase, for donating to our outside area. This has been a huge help, whilst many of our orders are stuck in supply chains. The children have had great fun with stacking and rolling tyres and setting up water chutes with guttering and watering cans.

Thank you also to Imogen's grandad for bringing us some pallets. If anyone thinks that they can lend a hand making these in to outdoor play equipment please let us know! We hope to organise a working party one weekend for this activity...keeping to the rule of 6, or course!

And finally, Thank you to the children of Saplings who each decorated one of the letters pictured above. The welcome sign they created takes pride of place on the noticeboard opposite the School reception.
A Healthy School in our Healthy New Town
There has been much press coverage about Barton Park being an NHS Healthy New Town. We want to do what we can to support this, at school. It has been great to see so many of you walking, scooting or cycling in to school. Mrs McCraw had a go at cycling up Barton hill last week and has pledged to do that at least twice a week... even in the Winter! It was great to have a chat to parents about other ways in which we can promote healthy lifestyles and what support we can ask the council for. If you have any ideas, please share them with us, so we can work together to make a difference.

Healthy Lunches and Drinks Bottles
Look out for an email asking you to make lunch choices for the next three weeks.
This should arrive in your inbox on Monday.
Can we remind you that water bottles should only contain water, not squash or juice, as NHS guidelines advise that the sugar in these drinks can seriously affect teeth.
Barton Park School on the BBC!
We had exciting visitors on our first full day of school, journalists from BBC News South. They spent all afternoon here filming with children, staff and parents. Their report was on BBC News South on Monday evening and, as you can see, Safiya and Alaya in Year 2 were the stars of the show!
