Welcome to the sixth issue of Transform Nutrition e-news. In this issue we highlight our new publications and upcoming events including the Together for Nutrition 2015 conference in Ethiopia.

Transforming Nutrition: UK summer short course

Now in its 4th year this popular course has been developed further in response to positive feedback from previous participants. It includes the Lancet nutrition series and Global Nutrition Report. Applications are invited now. Watch interviews with last years Transforming Nutrition course participants.

Drivers of effective leadership in child undernutrition

A new Transform Nutrition paper is out now in Food Policy What drives and constrains effective leadership in tackling child undernutrition? Findings from Bangladesh, Ethiopia, India and Kenya. 

Past Drivers and Priorities for the Post-MDG Era

A new Transform Nutrition research brief Reducing Child Undernutrition: Past Drivers and Priorities for the Post-MDG Era by Lisa Smith and Lawrence Haddad is out now which summarises a 2015 paper published in World Development.

Together for Nutrition 2015: Working Across Sectors to Improve Nutrition in Ethiopia

Transform Nutrition and IFPRI’s Ethiopia Strategy Support Program are jointly holding a one day conference in Addis Ababa on Monday June 15th 2015. Bringing together local policy makers, researchers, donors and implementers this conference will present the most recent evidence on the major nutritional issues in Ethiopia and contribute to the ongoing local policy debate. Speakers and conference attendees will be invited by the conference team. A website with further information will follow.

Stories of change

Our major new initiative Stories of change to improve nutrition is now underway. This will help meet the need for more experiential learning that draws upon experiences of policymakers, nutrition leaders, programme managers and implementers in making decisions on what to do in real time, in their countries.

Nutrition and Pastoralists in Ethiopia

Following a proposal call from Transform Nutrition and Agriculture for Nutrition and Health, VSF-Suisse will be working on a new project called Behavioural Change for Improved Nutrition among Pastoralists (BCIN)

 

The Other Asian Enigma 

Bangladesh has sustained a rapid reduction in the rate of child undernutrition for at least two decades. The drivers of this change are explored by Derek Headey et al in a new Transform Nutrition/LANSA paper published in World Development The other Asian Enigma : Explaining the Rapid Reduction of Undernutrition in Bangladesh. You can now watch Anisul's talk on You Tube The butterfly effect of small changes: lessons from Bangladesh and beyond in which Transform Nutrition research and the importance of education in making good choices around healthcare and nutrition were highlighted.
