MusicFest 'n Sugar Grove (Friday & Saturday)
A celebration of Appalachian music and cultural heritage, the Doc & Rosa Lee Watson MusicFest ‘N Sugar Grove will take place on the grounds of the Historic Cove Creek School in Sugar Grove, N.C., featuring world-renowned recording artists.
Always...Patsy Cline (Thru July 20)
Always... Patsy Cline is based on the true story of Patsy Cline's friendship with Houston, Texas housewife Louise Seger. You will be led through great moments of laughter, warm sentiment and sadness. Always... Patsy Cline allows us to peek in on these sensational historical events, tapping feet to every treasured song.
Horn in the West - Kids Free (Sunday)
Loved by young and old alike, the Horn in the West drama is located in the heart of Boone North Carolina in one of the most beautiful outdoor theatres in the country. Up to 3 children, age 12 and under, will be admitted free with each paid adult.
Bill McKibben - Appalachian Energy Summit Keynote (Monday)
Best-selling author and environmental activist Bill McKibben will serve as the keynote speaker for the 2016 Appalachian Energy Summit, an annual gathering of progressive energy thought-leaders and innovators from 17 public institutions and seven private colleges and universities.
Movies in the Park (Thursday)
Family fun in Memorial Park in Blowing Rock. The feature will be The Mighty Ducks, a film from 1992 rated PG.
What's Happening July 22 - 28
Ashe County Bluegrass and Old Time Fiddlers Convention (Fri & Sat)
Focused on honoring the Old Time and Bluegrass music of the mountains – and the musicians who make it. The Convention will be held at Ashe County Park in Jefferson offering camping, food cooked on site, and individual and band competitions – featuring great music and cash prizes!
New River Conservancy Boat & Float (Saturday)
Join New River Conservancy on the New River for the inaugural Boat & Float, costume contest, and after party. All money raised will fund our river cleanup efforts for the 2016-2017 year!
Ensemble Stage Presents "Cinderella" (Tuesday)
Ensemble Stage's Summer Saturday Kids Theatre presents the La Commedia version of this classic tale. Full of fun and very interactive with the audience. Price is only $6.00 per person and every child in the audience gets a free gift bag from KILWIN'S!
Painting the Mountain (Sunday)
The views on Mt. Jefferson are legendary and always changing with the seasons. Come up for an hour of creativity, and try your hand at painting. A free canvas to take home will be provided for each participant. Tempera paints and brushes will also be provided as long as supplies last. No experience necessary. This program is for adults and children.
The Little Mermaid (Thursday thru Saturday)
BeanStalk Community Theatre presents Disney's The Little Mermaid. Ariel falls in love with a human and must win his heart before the spell that makes her human wears off. Come see this INCREDIBLE cast and crew put on our biggest show yet!
