Dear readers,

One of India Currents' core missions is to create a pipeline of writers and reporters who will tell the stories of our community. We are currently mentoring a team of six enthusiastic interns, who often produce some of our most-read stories. This week, we feature 13-year-old
Adi Anand's exclusive interview with the World's #1 doubles tennis player, Rajeev Ram. Please encourage our nascent sportswriter: make his story go viral by sharing it on your social media pages.
In other news: the city of Fremont, California has proclaimed October Domestic Violence Awareness Month. The rates of domestic abuse have spiked dramatically amid the Covid-19 pandemic. A victim of domestic violence shares her tragic story of extreme control exerted by the man she married.

Affirmative action may be on the chopping block: how will the Supreme Court decide the critical Harvard case? And could our public parks also be on the verge of decimation?

Just in case you still need a post-Diwali fix of Indian food and music, we serve up Padma Lakshmi's recipe for
lassi popsiclesSaffron restaurant in Burlingame, California gets a thumbs-up from our reviewer. And the mega-stars of percussion were featured at a tabla festival in Los Angeles.

See you next week. All the best.
