That's the Spirit

It was an up and down season where we only managed four wins, however the four wins we did manage were memorable ones. The most memorable being the Northern Spirit's maiden T20 victory over Canterbury.Canterbury needed 8 runs to win from the last over with plenty of wickets in hand, yet we managed to take three wickets in the over and won by 4 runs. I certainly wont be forgetting that anytime soon.
One of the biggest highlights of the season was playing against the England Women. England have a number of world class players such as Charlotte Edwards and Sarah Taylor, names synonymous in International Cricket. Even though it wasn't a very successful day on the score board. it was a fantastic opportunity and we were able to take so much away from the experience.
On a personal level it was a good season. I managed to put into two significant performances that helped our team win. One being hitting 49 runs against Wellington when we were in some strife, which included a Northern Spirit record breaking partnership with Sian Ruck. The other was being the one who bowled the penultimate over against Canterbury and walking away with the best figures for the match.
It was a thoroughly enjoyable season and fingers crossed for continued improvement in seasons to come.
