November 2019
Year End Appeal

In the next few weeks you’ll be reminded of the reasons why YOU come to visit us with the release of our first-ever video Year End Appeal! You may recognize a few familiar faces from the Manor community and understand more about how Sylvester Manor came to be. We hope that you’ll watch it, feel an emotional connection, be inspired to give and share the video with your friends.

Thank you in advance for supporting our Year End Appeal.

#Giving Tuesday is a global movement where anyone, anywhere, can make a difference!

Your donation this #GIVINGTUESDAY will directly support our 2020 concert series; help us bring world-renowned, up and coming, and prominently featured American Roots musicians from all over the country. Please consider making a donation to Sylvester Manor on #GivingTuesday, Tuesday, December 3.

Donations of all sizes are welcome and appreciated.

Farm with Us!

We are currently looking to build our 2020 farm crew. We will be hiring for 3 paid apprenticeships for the 2020 season (April 1 - November 1). Experience is not required but preference will be given to those who have worked at least one season on a farm. Apprentices will gain experience in all aspects of operating a small-scale vegetable operation. Duties will include planting, harvesting, weeding, livestock care and farmstand operations. For more information, please refer to our website.

Winter Volunteers Wanted

The 2019 farm crew has departed and we’d love to have some help caring for the chickens over the winter. If you’re interested in volunteering please contact us,

Fall Share

It continues to be a mild fall and we’ve still got a lot of produce from the Windmill Field. While supplies last, we will be offering a weekly Fall Share for $25. Each Wednesday we’ll be sending out an e-mail letting you know what’s in this week’s share. You must RSVP by midnight Thursday for pickup at the Farmstand on Saturday 10am - 4pm.

The grounds are open Monday through Friday from 10 am to 4 pm. To visit, enter through the pillars at 80 North Ferry Road. Follow the driveway to park near the yellow Manor House.

From November through March the walking trails will be closed due to hunting. We are working with the Town of Shelter Island's Hunting Program to control the deer population. Please take notice of the No Trail Walking signs when posted.
