Our People

Introducing Our New Operations Director!

If you see a new face around clinic, it is most likely our new operations director, Jeanelle Posch. She joined the Doctors Without Walls family in January and has been spending a lot of time getting acquainted with us, our mission, and our patients. Now it’s time to get to know her!

Behind the Scenes of Lompoc Clinic

Every second and fourth Saturday of the month, the DWW-SBSM van parks outside of the Trinity Church of Nazarene in Lompoc and enthusiastic volunteers led by the passionate leadership of the clinic coordinator Cassie, set up a clinic in the communal room of the church. One busy Saturday afternoon, I had a chance to observe the volunteers in action and in between incoming patients, talk to them about their DWW and Lompoc stories.

Public Restrooms: An Overlooked Necessity

Nature calls and you have nowhere to go? That can lead to a messy situation both
figuratively and literally. Among the myriad of problems faced by the underserved in our
community, a clean and safe place to use the restroom is one of both the most pervasive and
the most often neglected issues.

12th Annual Underserved Medicine Seminar

The 12th Annual Underserved Medicine Seminar took place during the Winter 2019 quarter at UCSB. Over the course of 10 weeks, the 250 students who were enrolled in the class took a deep dive into the vast world of humanitarian medicine. With topics ranging from neglected tropical diseases to the opioid crisis, students were inspired and encouraged to expand their notions regarding the numerous ways one can serve the most vulnerable of our population

Changing Lives Forever

DWW-SBSM recently had the honor of being featured in a video highlighting the organizations gifted with grants by the Women’s Fund of Santa Barbara. The Women’s Fund has been a significant partner of our organization and we are grateful for their support and generosity throughout the years. The video, titled Changing Lives Forever, features our amazing volunteers Cathy, Niko, and Marina as they share about the contributions the Women’s Fund has made towards furthering our mission, efforts, and values.
