Thank you for signing up to volunteer. You rock our world.

We've had a phenomenal response with over 430 volunteer registrations across Central and Queenstown Lakes.

If you haven't been allocated a role yet please know we are working on finding the people who need help, as there are more volunteers than requests at the moment.
Thanks for your patience, we're in this for the long haul and expect more requests to come in as the self-isolation period continues.

If your situation has changed and you can no longer volunteer, we completely understand, please click the button below to let us know and we'll take you out the system.

What can you do now?
Do you know someone that needs help? This can include advice around finance, accommodation, immigration, mental well-being or volunteer assistance such as shopping or a regular check in and chat on the phone.

Please encourage or assist anyone you know to sign up to the QLDC and CODC welfare register below or call the regional welfare helpline on 0800 322 4000. Check out your council websites for all local services and information.

Level 4 and volunteering - clarification of who can operate

Volunteers working under the direction of an essential service provider are able to continue working following COVID 19 health advice, and the organisation's operational guidelines.

Anyone tasked by their Civil Defence Emergency Management (CDEM) team are considered to be an essential service. Examples in our area of this include Salvation Army, Community Networks, Happiness House and ourselves - Volunteering Central.

Established support networks between friends, family and neighbours can continue following all COVID 19 guidelines, however community initiatives that are coordinating volunteers that are not known to each other are urged to filter all requests of support through to the QLDC Welfare Registration Form (on their website) where, if appropriate, they will be connected to a screened and inducted volunteer who is permitted to work under the essential service provider banner.
Huge thanks Sue at Cromwell Community House and Carole at Alexandra Community House for their outstanding support and collaboration whilst working through the COVID 19 welfare response and thank you to all the volunteers who are helping us directly with our work.
Please keep on being kind to everyone (including yourself) - regardless of their circumstance, situation or nationality.
