We're well into the new year, folks! Are you open to welcoming something new? How about coloring a mandala, journaling, following a finger labyrinth, or writing poetry while being guided in meditation? Does your heart yearn for self-love?
Today was a beautiful late winter day with afternoon temps a balmy 54 degrees F. The bike ride felt so nice and there were many neighbors enjoying a warmer day to be outside. Hellos, friendly smiles, and community conversations released some of the pent-up winter energy.
It almost felt like spring was around the corner... oh, but not holding my breath here in northern NM where the temperature can change in 5 minutes. Yet, in THIS present moment, all is so gloriously flowing.
SPECIAL CLASS THIS MONTH: I've scheduled a special meditation circle this month to coincide with February's holiday of Valentine's Day, but with a twist. Day-After Valentine's Self-Love Meditation Circle is a special time to channel compassion for ourselves. February 14 is all about letting others know how much we love and appreciate having them in our lives. In this class, we give ourselves unconditional love. Meditation guidance using vipassana gentle insight and heart-based wisdom with opportunity for discussing. (Wednesday, February 15, 6:30-7:15 pm).
REPEATING A SCHOOL PROGRAM! Roots and Wings Community School asked me back this semester for another go-round of the Recipes for Wellness 6-week mindfulness program. This time, I am going into the classroom every other week until April 7. This coincides with their Crew program which incorporates team-building activities. I've customized the mindfulness lessons to incorporate more discussion, journaling, and a special "assignment" for the week I am not there, to let mindfulness continue to flow in the K-8th grade classes.
COMING NEXT MONTH: Mindful Frontiers' first in-person meditation workshop. The tentative date/time is Saturday, March 25, 1:00-4:00 pm at a very special venue to be revealed soon ;-) The workshop will be organized like a mini-retreat with different types of meditation practices interspersed between mindful walking and snack time. Stay tuned for more details as the workshop takes form.
And last but definitely not least, MINDFUL MOMENT with MINDFUL FRONTIERS on the radio begins this month. In a moment of creative flow, I sent an email proposal to all the local radio stations (and KRZA from Alamosa, CO) to suggest a weekly radio mindful moment public service broadcast. KCEI 90.1 FM accepted the idea and the first broadcast starts this week, accompanying the monthly Families Meditate Together newspaper column in the Taos News that publishes Thursday, February 9. There's another radio station considering it.... crossing my fingers.
Links to all of these events, articles, and classes can be found on our Link Tree page.
If you know of organizations, schools, or businesses that would like to bring mindfulness into their staff meetings, classrooms, and public events, PLEASE let them know about Mindful Frontiers LLC. Yes, we have a lot going on but most of what we do currently isn't generating income so it's time to welcome the flow of energy exchange and abundance. And Zoom is still a great way to reach people all over the planet who are open to the benefits of meditation!

Flash Back to 2020
In the summer of 2020, I was dreaming up Mindful Frontiers. While on a camping trip in the Vallecitos/Hopewell Lake area, I recorded this introductory video. Reviewing it almost 3 years later, the passion and inspiration are still fresh. Watch and let me know what you think!
