The Tasveer Foundation is delighted to announce its July lecture CROSS SUBSIDY: Architecture for a New India by Rahul Mehrotra — Professor of Urban Design and Planning at Harvard University. This will be the tenth event in the quarterly series of lectures organised by the Tasveer Foundation in collaboration with the National Gallery of Modern Art.

Mehrotra will focus on the idea of 'cross subsidy' as a tool to engage with architectural and urban practice in India. A model where research, activism and building practices seamlessly weave into a singular mode of engagement with the built environment. In addition, the lecture will consider and elaborate on how architecture and the built environment may play a role in dissipating 'inequity' in contemporary Indian society.
Rahul Mehrotra is a practising architect and educator. He works in Mumbai and teaches at the Graduate School of Design at Harvard University, where he is Professor of Urban Design and Planning, Chair of the Department of Urban Planning and Design,  and a member of the steering committee of Harvard’s South Asia Initiative.
