Dear members of Cities for Cyclists,

In this special newsletter I would like to present you with the opportunity to be part of SWITCH, an EU project aiming to reduce car traffic by switching short urban car journeys to walking and cycling

The key principles of SWITCH behaviour change campaigns include using personalised travel planning & ICT tools and target people who are in a life changing moment (move house, job, first kids to school, in need of more physical activity).

Antwerp, Gdansk, San Sebastian, London (Hounslow) and Vienna have started to design their campaigns and are eager to share their experiences with other cities!

There are three reasons why ECF recommends that your city participate in SWITCH:

- Gain experience of being closely involved in a European project
- Develop a network of practitioners in behaviour change campaigns
- Gain top expertise on behavior change campaigns through free training workshops and webinars

ECF together with our partners on the SWITCH project are delighted to announce that applications are now open for 20 interested cities. As spaces are limited, we encourage you to fill in the application form -available on the SWITCH website- no later than January, 30th 2015. All the information you need is right below, but don't hesitate to contact me for any thoughts, ideas or questions. I look forward to see your applications!

Best Regards,

SWITCH's main objective is to reduce car traffic by switching short urban car journeys to walking and cycling. Breaking car based routines not only impacts modal choice for short trips but opens people's minds to other options for other journeys too.

SWITCH is a two-year project implementing personalised travel plan in five European cities. The project targets people in a period of a life-change and intends to shift reliance on car transport for short journey to alternative and active travel.

By focusing on personalised plans and identifying health and environmental benefits, project partners will use their expertise to implement behaviour change approaches in five European cities.

This will result in the elaboration a practical and transferable methodology, using insight from public health and mobility campaignings and the use of ICT solutions.
