This Saturday, April 5 we’re offering a unique event to help get you On Your Bike this Spring. Free cycling workshops, bike checks and a chance to try "Rack and Roll", from 2-4pm at the All Saints Anglican / First United Church. Use the back entrance at 354 Madison Avenue (off Churchill), to avoid the stairs.
Following opening remarks from City Councillor and cyclist Katherine Hobbs, there will be four short workshops, so come along for one or settle in and stay for them all! Enjoy free refreshments while you learn about:
Community bike sharing (Shane Norris, RightBike)
Cycling with children (Kathleen Wilker, EnviroCentre)
Stretching and self-massage for cycling (Adam Biesinger, RMT)
Basic bike maintenance skills (Ryan Finch, MEC bike mechanic)
MEC bike mechanics will be giving free bike check-ups and minor adjustments, so bring your bike and get it ready to ride. Free bike checks are limited, so please sign up in advance by emailing email@example.com.
OC Transpo will have a Rack and Roll-equipped bus parked by Madison Avenue. Staff will be on-hand to help you practice loading a bike on the bus, so you can see how easy it is to take your bike further by pairing cycling with transit. Plus, there will be a prize for the fastest Rack and Roller!
In case you’re not already convinced to come, an RMT will be available to do free chair massages, and all attendees will go into a draw to win prizes donated by MEC.
