URGENT: 2 Volunteers needed for Glebe House, Downpatrick 7-18 Sept
Are you interested in the Northern Ireland situation and the challenges faced by communities in the 21st century? We need 2 volunteers to assist with the clearing up after another great season of cross community summer camps at Glebe House. Study sessions on peace, politics and community relation work and other topics as well as visiting the beautiful sites of Northern Ireland. More details email ivp @

  • Catalonia (Spain): Helping in the Esperanzah Festival and Fair of Solidarity Economy in Barcelona.
  • Serbia: Environmental project in the woods and paths around the 14th century Tronosa monastery.
  • Czech Republic: Repairing houses for winter in a community for people with special needs.
50 Years of VSI upcoming events
Informal 50 Years of VSI Gathering Thursday 10 Sept in Dublin 6.30pm
Join us to meet with Joanna Leser, daughter of the founders of VSI Conrad and Dorothea who will be in Dublin next week. We have organised an informal gathering to meet and chat with her about her memories of the early days of VSI in the 1960’s. (read her article on her times as a child volunteer with VSI!). Jambo Jambo! Calling all VSI development volunteers
As part of VSI's 50 years' celebrations, an active member of the former VSI Development Education Group is organising an informal gathering for all volunteers who volunteered in Africa, Asia and Latin America and who were active in Development Education through VSI. This event will now take place in November. Contact Tom at the office for more details.

Galway Food and Thought Evening Sat 7 November
As part of the VSI 50 years’ celebrations past members from the VSI Galway Group are organising a special Food and Thought evening. During the 1980’s and ‘90’s they ran a yearly series of Food and Thought evenings for 8 years to create awareness about development issues in Africa, Asia and Latin America.  Contact Tom at the office for more details.
European Voluntary Service (EVS) – next deadline 1st October
EVS is a volunteer programme funded by the European Commission for 18-30 year olds.  
Volunteer placements last up to 12 months, travel, food, accommodation, pocket money and insurance are all provided.  All volunteers are provided with a supervisor and social and personal support in country.  VSI is an accredited EVS organisation, we can help you find a placement and support you in your application.

Eurodesk Ireland Network is inviting youth organisations and young people interested in opportunities to volunteer, work, train and study in Europe to attend its national event 'Time To Move'  in Dublin. We offer workshops for young people and youth leaders/workers, information stands and a networking platform. We will also celebrate the 20th anniversary of Eurodesk in Ireland and the 25th anniversary of Eurodesk in Europe. So join us, get informed and celebrate European youth mobility! More details

VSI Volunteering and Training Updates September 2015 Bulletin
Volunteer Reunion Workshop Sat 26th Sept Dublin
VSI has organised the Volunteer Reunion Workshop on the 26 September in Dublin. The workshop will bring together VSI volunteers who have joined in projects in Ireland and in over 30 countries worldwide. It will be great to hear the stories and share the experiences of the volunteers. The workshop will also evaluate each project and make suggestions for improving our projects here in Ireland and internationally. More details from Masha - ivp @ 
Volunteers needed for VSI stands at College Fairs September/October
VSI will have stands at UCC Cork, DCU Dublin, UL Limerick; NUI Galway; LIT Letterkenny; TCD Dublin and the Irish Aid Volunteer fair in Dublin Castle during this September and October.  If you can help with volunteering at the stands please contact Emmet – projects @ for dates and further details. VSI will cover all travel expenses involved.
