AC and CPC Programs Accredited by ANSI

The American Institute of Constructors announced that its Associate Constructor and Certified Professional Constructor Certification Programs have been granted Accreditation by the American National Standards Institute (ANSI).

Alexandria, VA, September 17, 2014 - - ANSI, a private, nonprofit organization, accredits other organizations to serve as a third-party product, system and personnel certifier has accredited AIC’s Associate Constructor and Certified Professional Constructor Certification Programs.

ANSI is the only personnel certification accreditation body in the United States to meet nationally accepted practices for accreditation bodies. ANSI accreditation is recognized both nationally and internationally and has become the hallmark of a quality certification program.

“Obtaining ANSI Accreditation for the AC and CPC programs has been a goal of AIC’s for many years and I could not be more proud of this accomplishment. Having a quality and validated certification process is important to us and the construction industry, who will benefit most by having an ANSI Accredited Certification to turn to for individuals to manage the complex process of construction.” Said AIC National President Paul Mattingly, CPC.

For nearly 20 years the AC and CPC designations have recognized individuals for the skills, knowledge, and professionalism needed to be manage the construction process.  Those who obtain the designations have demonstrated their skill and proficiency through education, experience and a rigorous examination.

Mr. Ethics

Dear Mr. Ethics,

One of my employees just reported to me that he overheard another employee speaking angrily and disrespectfully to one of our clients.  This is a violation of our ethics code.  While I am upset at the person who spoke improperly to a client, I am more upset by the tattletale.  I can’t stand rats and I want to punish that person more than the other.  One of our other codes is not to do wrong to another employee.  Can I also punish the snitch?
I Hate Stoolpigeons.

Dear Stoolpigeon,

A hallmark of an effective code of ethics is the ability of those witnessing a violation of the code a safe harbor in which to communicate that violation.  Why would you want to punish someone who obviously takes the code seriously?  If you punish your stoolpigeon you can consider your code to be as valuable as the paper it is printed upon.  Companies with hallow codes of conduct do not fare well over all.  Enron had a great code of conduct that it did not support or seriously promote.  We all know what happened to Enron.

Mr. Ethics.
