Warm Up With a Good Book!
Adult Winter Read
February 1-28

An adult reading program where you read a Blizzard of Books to help  keep cabin fever away. Disappear in a storm of stories and
READ as much as you like!
 
Enter each book that you’ve read between February 1st and February 28th online at www.charlestonlibrary.org.
 
For each book you’ve read (does not have to be a library book), you get to pick which grand prize drawing you would like to enter!
 
No registration required.
Please ask Staff if you need any help with submissions.
Participants do NOT need a library card or to read library items!

Hardcover books, audio books, DVDs and vinyl records are $2. Paperback books, children’s books, music CDs, puzzles and games are 50¢. There also is a large selection of sale books for 25¢.
 
Books are sorted into categories such as Mystery, Romance,
Sci-fi/Fantasy, Hobbies & Crafts, History, Inspiration, Biography, Cookbooks, Sports, Gardening, Classics, and Children’s books.
 
We accept cash or checks.
All proceeds from the book sale support the Charleston Carnegie Public Library. Thank you for your support!

Preschool Story Time

Wake up Mr. Turtle for story time. Come enjoy stories, songs, and crafts. This is one program, presented at 4 different times to enjoy the fun.

Bouncing rhymes, songs, finger plays, stories, and other early literacy fun will be presented.

Kids under eight, please bring a
grown-up to help.
Make special Valentines for your loved ones! Drop in  to make one, some, or all of our crafts, then take them home!

Daniel recently moved here from Kentucky where he worked in a public library and is overjoyed to have the opportunity to continue his library journey with us. Favorite book: The Maze Runner series James Dashner 
 
Brenda came to the area a year and a half ago to help care for her granddaughter. Having visited the library on numerous occasions, she was excited to see the opening for a library associate and is enjoying learning this new position.  Favorite Book: Love Comes Softly series by Jeanette Oke.

Black History Month Movie
In honor of Black History Month, come watch these Oscar nominated and winning films featuring African- American actors, writers, and directors; including this year’s nominees for Best Picture, Best Director,and Best Adapted Screenplay. We must remember that representation matters.

"Let's Go & Grow": Tips on Successful Seed Starting

Local Master Gardeners will talk about seed selection and germination. Gardening tips will be shown, demonstrating the differences between container gardening and in-ground planting. Handouts and seed starter kits will be provided after the program while supplies last.

or smart phone your kids thought you needed?
Be a part of our Grandma’s Got Gmail outreach program. We have teamed up with volunteers from Eastern Illinois University’s Civic Engagement and Volunteerism office who can work with you one on one to help you with all of your technology needs. Anything from, “What’s an App?” to “How do I put a profile picture on Facebook?” and everything in-between! Feel free to bring your own devices and any questions you have.
