On Thursday, February 5th, join schools across Canada in celebrating Winter Walk Day 2015!  Walking to school is great for making friends, the environment, physical activity and…having fun!  Can’t walk to school? Take a walk during recess or walk to a local skating rink as a class for some outdoor activities. Share your Winter Walk Day with us using the hashtag #winterwalkdaymb on social media and be entered to win hot chocolate for your class!  This February, dress warmly, get outside and walk for fun!

Winter 2015 Grants


After the School Bell Rings, in conjunction with the Active and Safe Routes to School Program at Green Action Centre, is offering Manitoba after school programs an opportunity to introduce a new activity or active transportation initiative between January and March 2015 that supports the blended program framework.

Successful applicants are eligible to receive a grant of up to $500 to support their activity or initiative.

Walk A Child to School

Bike to School Month is a celebration from May 4 to Clean Air Day on June 3, 2015 for all schools in Manitoba including workshops for your school.  There are a few ways your school can participate: 
• Try a month of activities with Bike to School Month 
• If a month is too much, try a week of fun biking events 
• Or, walk, bike and skate to school on Clean Air Day 

Register your school online
Before the fun begins, we are inviting all schools to participate in a poster contest to design our Manitoba event poster for 2015! The grand prize image will be used for Bike to School Month and Clean Air Day this spring! All artwork must be post-marked Friday, March 6th, 2015
