This year's Active Healthy Kids Canada Report Card calls out our society's culture of convenience and how an abundance of structured physical activity is no match for good 'ole fashioned outdoor play.  To increase daily physical activity throughout our days, we need to take a step forward and get outdoors by walking and cycling to neighbourhood destinations.

Why not pledge to leave the car at home for trips of under 2 kilometers this summer?

For a review of the 2014 Report Card check out the AHKC website.

Did you have a gorgeous Clean Air Day Walk to School on our around June 4th?  Don't forget to submit your tally sheet by Friday, June 13th to be entered to win some amazing prizes including Winnipeg Jets prize packs, bike helmets and more!

Here is one father's story of riding with his daughter to school on Clean Air Day!

"I take my daughter to school on the way to work and our commute is always green. We don't own a car (but belong to the Peg City Car Co-op for weekend errands). We've always walked or cycled to school, and over the last year we also both got kick scooters, so we can be seen regularly scooting along Corydon -- where the sidewalks are new and smooth! We marked the start of this year's commuter challenge with a special transition: we just bought our daughter her first bike with gears -- which she loves -- and so we both rode in together." - Michael Dudley
