Good Day Dear Sisters and Brothers of Community Reformed Church! Pastor Greg here.
This week marks week 10 of social distancing and staying at home, and as the pastoral staff has desired to stay in touch with each of you through daily devotions and thoughts, nothing seems to replace physically being in community with one another, does it? My wife asked me this past weekend two questions: What has been the hardest thing for you during this time and what have you enjoyed? My answer to the first question was I miss people…I miss a handshake, I miss a hug and I miss praying with people in their times of need! I’ll come back to that in a brief moment but the answer to the second question is I have grown to love my wife even more! Yes, spending a little more time in devotions together, cooking and eating meals together every day! When the church was under full power of activities I was away often three nights a week. I have enjoyed time with her and I hope that this may become a new normal when our current state becomes lifted. Maybe you may find a blessing as a result of this pandemic as well. Time in the Word and in Prayer.
Speaking of prayer. Last Wednesday I shared the power of praying scripture and was brought today to the passage of Paul to the church at Ephesus that is entitled the ‘armor of God’ in Ephesians 6:10-18.
As you listen to these words
think about the reality ‘for our struggle is not against flesh and blood but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces in the heavenly realms.’ The foundation of this passage is Prayer! Reminding you and me to pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind be alert and always keep on praying for all the saints.’ Satan and his demonic forces desire to steal our hope, kill our joy, and destroy our faith. Jesus came to give us life to the full and prayer unleashes a power that transforms hearts…I know I can speak from experience!
Praying we can worship together again soon! - Pastor Greg
