Sounds Good, Doesn’t it?

Life by the Spirit
13 You, my brothers and sisters, were called to be free. But do not use your freedom to indulge the flesh, rather, serve one another humbly in love. 14 For the entire law is fulfilled in keeping this one command: “Love your neighbor as yourself.” 15 If you bite and devour each other, watch out or you will be destroyed by each other.
16 So I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh. 17 For the flesh desires what is contrary to the Spirit, and the Spirit what is contrary to the flesh. They are in conflict with each other, so that you are not to do whatever you want. 18 But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the law.
19 The acts of the flesh are obvious: sexual immorality, impurity and debauchery; 20 idolatry and witchcraft; hatred, discord, jealousy, fits of rage, selfish ambition, dissensions, factions 21 and envy; drunkenness, orgies, and the like. I warn you, as I did before, that those who live like this will not inherit the kingdom of God.
22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience , kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law. 24 Those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. 25 Since we live by the Spirit, let us keep in step with the Spirit.

I’ve been walking a lot during this time of ‘stay at home’. Sometimes Tina and I go out and talk and process and connect. I love those times. Other times I put in my wireless headphones and put on my favorite playlist I titled - Walking with Jesus. I have selected songs where He reminds me who I am, who He is, how much He loves me, and who He calls me to be. Tina just shared a new song with me - God of Resurrection- by Kevin Winebarger. You should check it out. She has great taste in music. I need the reminder more than I think I should. But I’ve noticed that the days I start with a walk seem to go much better. Sometimes I break into VBS motions while I’m walking. I highly recommend it.

I love the lists that the apostle Paul puts in his letters. They remind me of who I am supposed to be - and how I’m supposed to - and not supposed to live. And I can’t do - or not do these things unless I Walk By The Spirit!!!

We were called to be free. To serve one another humbly in love. To love our neighbor as ourselves. Not to bite and devour. The flesh desires what is contrary to the Spirit and the acts of the sinful nature are obvious. (But sometimes we are blinded by our selfish ambition, jealousy, envy, factions, discord, hatred, idolatry, and the like).

But we can be filled with the Fruit of the Spirit: Love. Joy. Peace. Patience. Kindness. Goodness. Faithfulness. Gentleness. Self-control.

Sounds good, doesn’t it?

Here are the lyrics to my new favorite song:

I can't believe how far this heart has come
I'm standing here amazed at all You've done
The hurts that You have healed
From the wounds that I have worn
Thank You, God, for all that You've restored

I am more alive than I have ever been
Finding joy and hope and confidence
Life is rising from the ashes
Of my broken imperfection
You are God
God of resurrection

The story of my life has just one theme
There's nothing in my past You can't redeem
You filled me with Your peace
And You freed me of my fear
By Your grace alone, I will declare

I am more alive than I have ever been
Finding joy and hope and confidence
Life is rising from the ashes
Of my broken imperfection
You are God
God of resurrection

God, Your power that rolled the stone away
Is the same power alive in me today
God, Your power that rolled the stone away
Is the same power alive in me today

I am more alive than I have ever been
You changed my heart
You changed my life
Oh I am more alive than I have ever been
By becoming who You say I am
Life is rising from the ashes
Of my broken imperfection
You are God
God of resurrection
You are God
God of resurrection

Sounds good, doesn’t it? Make up your own VBS motions.

So go take a walk with the Spirit. (Stop by my house and I’ll go with you and show you my motions.) Keep in step with the Spirit. Let the God of resurrection remind you who you are and whose you are. Let His power be alive in you today. He will fill you with peace and free you from fear - and so much more!! You will be more alive than you have ever been. Sounds good, doesn’t it? It is!

If you are still looking for ways to help -

Donate food to The Bridge
They are always in need of bread, eggs, milk, TP, paper towels, peanut butter, jelly, hand sanitizer, diapers 3 and up, cleaning supplies, and anything else that you would like to eat. Donations can be dropped off at The Bridge or call the church office and someone can pick up your donations.

Designated Shopper
Email Pastor Kurt if you are able to shop for items for local food pantries and program with money people have donated towards this cause.

Donate to Casas por Cristo
The Covid-19 Virus has impacted their ministry terribly. This couldn’t have happened at a worse time for the financial situation of their ministry. 75% of the homes they build happen in March, June, and July. They are hoping to get in on the second round of Federal money – but if they don’t – they will face significant layoffs and cuts. Go to this link to donate: https://secure.givelively.org/donate/casas-por-cristo/hope-restored

Donate finances for a Food Program in Guatemala
We can send money to Pete & Abbie Dockery – and they can help feed that little village in San Raymundo, Guatemala. They have started a feeding program where they go out each week to the villages where they have built homes. Your money can go directly to this village where we served in January. Email Pastor Kurt if you are interested in learning how to support this mission.

Donate to Rivers of Mercy Children’s Home
They are in need of several things during this crisis. If you would like to purchase any of the items on the Amazon list (https://www.amazon.com/hz/wishlist/ls/3CBKROCEGKKHF?ref_=wl_share), they would appreciate that so much!  You can have them shipped to the following address:
