Dear Community Reformed Church Family: Pastor Greg here checking in today. Over the past weeks, I have been brought to increased and enhanced time of prayer as a result of our current environment and maybe you have as well. Praying Scripture is one of the most impactful ways to communicate with God: God’s Word with a focus on His Sovereignty and His love for His people. Acknowledging what Christ did for me in order to reconcile me to His Heavenly Father out of obedience and the gift of the Holy Spirit --which changes hearts, which in turn leads to changed behaviors.
Thursday, May 7 is the National Day of Prayer and I invite you to embrace the power of praying God’s Word!
Theologian & Pastor John Piper puts four requests from the Psalms before a section of scripture to promote prayer: 1) I, Incline my heart to your testimonies (Psalm 119:36). 2) O, Open my eyes to see wonderful things (Psalm 119:18). 3) U, Unite my heart to fear your name (Psalm 86:11). 4) S, Satisfy me in the morning with your steadfast love (Psalm 90:14).
This acronym speaks to this beautifully:
I would invite you to watch this short video to listen to John Piper praying the prayer Jesus taught you and me!
