Get involved in our wonderful new art installation at the Top of Loongana Park.

UNITY shows our uniqueness whilst strengthening our ties to each other.

UNITY is 32 tall posts covered by a growing canopy of yarn.

Each post has a label such as, 'I’m a parent'; 'I'm single'; 'I welcome all religions to Tasmania'; 'I am born Tasmanian';' I come from the mainland' and so on.

Come along and thread yarn between the posts you most identify with.

The UNITY artwork reveals how the labels we give ourselves and others both support and limit building interconnected, interesting communities.

Youth Performer Awards

We are also still taking applications for our Youth Performer awards.

Cash prizes are 1st ($200), 2nd ($100) and the winner will also receive recording time at Mountain River Mastering.

The winners will also be nominated by the Festival to be in the running for the Folk Alliance Youth Showcase at the National Folk Festival in Canberra over Easter (age limits apply and Tasmanian residents only for this nomination).

Environmentally Friendly Festival

We are making a supreme effort to reduce our environmental impact into the future.

Cygnet Folk Festival has always recycled as much as possible and insisted on eco-friendly packaging from food stalls, but in 2017 we’re introducing some exciting new measures.

To reduce the substantial impact of single-use coffee cups (which are not recyclable or compostable due to the plastic lining) we will be selling branded keepcups at the festival shop, or encouraging patrons to bring their own.

We will also have festival branded, stainless steel drink bottles at the shop with water refill stations in several locations around the festival.

In the Paddock we will also be introducing reusable cups and wine goblets for cider, beer and wine, which will be available to buy as a keepsake or rent during the festival weekend.

Festival Merchandise

Limited edition festival t-shirts, mugs, Cygnet tea strainers and ladles, magnets, stickers, postcards, calico bags available during the weekend.

Stallholder Applications Now Open!

We are celebrating the flavours of the Festival with Filipino specialties, gourmet pies, organic coconut parfaits, Asian fusion cuisine, Californian/Mex fish tacos, smoothies, organic Barista coffee, Turkish kebabs & gozleme & more.  Apply here for a food or general stall in St James’ College quadrangle, the Willie Smith's Paddock precinct or the Piazza opposite Town Hall.

Our masterclasses are great value at only $50 for four hour's tuition with top proponents of their craft, more here.

People's Orchestra

We are also getting a lot of interest for the FREE masterclass to form the People’s Orchestra. More info here.

Cygnet Folk Festival has an amazing lineup of performers for 2017, but there is also so much you can get involved in during the weekend from masterclasses & workshops, to choirs & dancing, so get your tickets & we’ll see you in January for the best weekend of the year!

From modest beginnings in 1982, Cygnet Folk Festival has grown to become a hugely popular and highly acclaimed Tasmanian cultural event.

We are a not for profit organisation registered with the Australian Charities and Not For Profits Commission.

Every dollar we make is re-invested into bringing you next year's Festival.

We are over 98% self funded and bring over 400 performers to Cygnet from around Tasmania, Australia & overseas every year, and all of this is done by only two part time staff members plus our army of devoted volunteers!

We also work hard to do good things for the world by supporting young performers, cultivating Australian artists and creative works, keeping the Festival eco-friendly and working with local community groups to help them prosper.
