Cygnet is already humming with committee members and staff setting up for the weekend of wonder that is the Cygnet Folk Festival!!

The normally (fairly) quiet country town will become its annual vibrant showcase of some of the world’s best music including, as well as International virtuosos, many of Australia’s finest!

Don’t forget our wonderful Willie Smiths cider and Domaine Dawnelle wines will be in the paddock alongside our brand new shade marquee and allover town bright and shiny (as well as quirky and original) evidence of this great event will be there.

Whether your bent is folk, world music, blues and roots, country, singer songwriter, instrumental, dance, poetry, history, comedy circus or great sessions or kids performers we have something for you.

It’s big and we can’t wait to share it with you!

Erin Collins
Artistic Director

Who to look out for in the extraordinary lineup of over 100 acts at the 37th Cygnet Folk Festival?

Coming from Estonia are TRAD ATTACK! These exceptional musicians had a 5000-seat venue at Woodford Folk Festival absolutely pumping last week
Once again some of Canada’s finest grace our shores. Innovative string arrangements from The Fretless, Quebecois songs and danceable tunes from Les Poules a Colin, and the unbelievable voice and passion of Irish Mythen.

Scandinavian trio Fru Skaggerak feature fiddle tunes from Denmark and Norway and continue around Tasmania with one of our favourite songwriters, Liam Gerner on the Festival of Small Halls tour.

Lindsay Lou and her band showcase some of the best from the USA and from NZ we welcome Albi and the Wolves.

From all over Australia we have some of the best coming to Cygnet in 2019 and as always, we love to feature the amazing musicianship from our own state, showcasing up-coming young musicians with the Youth Showcase and awards and young bands Frumious, the Tinderboxers Little Island Imogen Skye, Katie Wilson and Zac Henderson and Celeste.

Veteran performers such as Claire Anne Taylor, Tiffany Eckhardt, Luke Plumb, the Clementines and many, many more remind us of the wealth of Tasmania’s talent.

Honestly though, walk into almost any venue to hear and see quality music, poetry, historically themed performances and dance.

Or you can wander the newly vamped market spaces eating and drinking some of the best Tasmanian produce or try your hand at a new skill in one of our many workshops.

Weekend and masterclass tickets are still available at the cheaper online prices until Thursday 10th or will be available all weekend at box-office prices.

We still have volunteer spaces to fill, so if you’d like to join a fantastic team and earn yourself a weekend pass, register online
