25th ANNIVERSARY EDITION
You've been asking for it and it's finally here! I'm re-issuing my very first novel, Private Relations, in both e-book format and print. I admit that I was hesitant about publishing Private Relations since it's so different from my current work, but you convinced me that you wanted to read it and given that this summer marks the 25th anniversary of its publication, I thought the time was right. When I first wrote this story (on a typewriter, with carbon paper!), it was about a group of adults who turn their oceanfront Jersey Shore house into a halfway house for teens. The book was rejected by publisher after publisher, and all of them said the same thing: ditch the teenagers and focus on the romance between the two central characters in the house, Kit and Cole. I was finally persuaded to get rid of all but one teen, which turned the story into a romance . . . but a romance that stood out enough to win the RITA award for Best Single Title Contemporary Novel from the Romance Writers of America, a huge thrill for a new writer.
