With nearly half the undergraduate population of Maryland enrolled at 16 colleges, on 23 campuses and 1000+ locations, it can be challenging to capture and share all that’s happening at Maryland’s community colleges.

-- However, with In A Crab Shell, we are going to try. --

Easton Utilities & Chesapeake College
Growing Skilled Managers
As a rapidly growing utility service-provider to the City of Easton, Maryland,
Easton Utilities needed to increase the quantity and skill-level of its management team in order to effectively and efficiently provide services to its growing service area.

Easton Utilities connected with Chesapeake College for customized management classes.
Chesapeake College developed training for:
  • Middle management
  • Upper management
  • One-on-one


Training took place at  Easton Utilities' office building on N. Washington Street in Easton, MD.
Middleton & Meads Company and
The Community College of Baltimore County
Growing A Skilled Workforce
A major Maryland diesel transportation service provider was unable to hire enough skilled diesel mechanics to meet demand
in the Maryland and DC region. They connected with CCBC to rebuild the region’s skilled diesel mechanic workforce.

*Middleton & Meads Co. has been an established diesel repair and maintenance full-service provider in Maryland / DC for 90+ years.
The Community College of Baltimore County:
  • Created a 300-hour, entry-level diesel mechanic training class
  • Trained 25 diesel mechanics
  • 90% employment rate in local diesel repair shops
LOCATION: Diesel engine repair and maintenance took place at Middleton & Meads' repair shop in Baltimore, MD.
