Camakazi Trail Maintenance Day

This Saturday (27th April) WAMBA are holding a trail maintenance day on Camakazi on the Kalamunda Circuit. As anyone who has ridden lately will know the long dry summer and many wheels passing over these trails has left them in need of some love. This is your chance to put a little back in to the trails that we all love to ride.
Meet at the Camel Farm at 0800. We will be finished by around 1230 at which point there will be a free BBQ for all volunteers back at the Camel Farm.
Please bring with you sturdy shoes, water, snacks, gloves, hat and sun cream.
RocknRoll mountain biking will be running this session. Please look out for them and the WAMBA trailer.

Volunteers at this trail maintenance day qualify for the bike store discount listed below and an entry in to the TREK bike raffle.

$60K for Green trails in the Perth Hills

WAMBA has been successful in securing grants totaling $34,000 for beginners trails in the popular Kalamunda area. $30,000 was obtained from a Lottery West trails grant, and $4,000 from a MTBA Club Grant (with support from PMBC). The remaining funds will be provided from WAMBA fundraising and in-kind volunteer contributions.
The new trail will provide a much needed easier alternative to the intermediate rated (blue) Kalamunda Circuit for beginner riders and those wishing to enter/try the sport. Construction is due to start later this year.

Luvin Shovels Build Day

Lindsay and his merry band of helpers will be out there again on Sunday (28th) trying to finish the transition off on the impressive honey log. Come along and give them a hand and be a part of creating the most exciting trail in the Perth hills.

Bring hat, gloves, sturdy shoes, water, snacks, sun cream and your muscles. Meet at the Dell at 8am.
Please let Lindsay know if you are coming along by emailing

Volunteers at this trail maintenance day qualify for the bike store discount listed below and an entry in to the TREK bike raffle.

Munda Biddi Opening

A Festival of Cycling event will be held in Mundaring this Sunday April 28 to celebrate the opening of the iconic Munda Biddi Trail.

Environment Minister Albert Jacob will open the trail and welcome 26 riders who will arrive at Sculpture Park after completing the first end to end ride of the Munda Biddi, which started in Albany on April 7.

The local community can find out what the Munda Biddi is all about on Sunday, by taking part in free, guided cycle rides of part of the trail, which starts in Sculpture Park. Bikes will be supplied and suitable for children 12 years or over. Younger children are welcome to bring their own bikes and join in a ride.
There will also be cycling and wildlife displays, a bouncy castle, a youth space, facepainting and refreshments.
The day will run from 10am to 2pm in Sculpture Park, Jacoby Street, Mundaring. Riders will arrive for the official opening ceremony at 1pm.

IMBA Road show

Troy Rarick (Fruita USA) and Nic Bowman (IMBA oz) will be doing a 7 day road trip of the south west of WA in June. Albany, Margret River and Collie will be the 3 main clubs visited by the Troy Rarick Show.
Troy and Nic will be driving across the Nullarbour and camping it rough along the way, before hitting Albany for the start of an intense 7 day trail advocacy trip. Spending two days with each club and getting involved with discussions with DEC and the tourism community, hoping to bring attention to the business of moutain biking. Nic will be focussing on IMBAs story of sustainable trails while Troy will be hoping to impress the stake holders of local governments and the tourism community.
Starting in Albany on the 17th June and flying out on the 24th June, it's going to be an action packed road-trip of a life time for the pair organised by the south west clubs.

IMBA Australasia Summit

John 'Wal' Wallace of Collie Mountain Bike Club will be attending the inaugural Australasia IMBA summit in Cairns in October, thanks to TrailsWA.

This will be John's 2nd trip across the continent in as many years on the advocacy front. John is a seasoned trail advocate and will be representing the south west mountain bike trail advocacy community, along with Leon Price from the Wellington(Collie) DEC district.
This year’s Regional Summit is a chance for celebrating trail development and access for mountain bike riders in our part of the globe as well as to learn about cutting edge trail developments and solutions from NZ, Singapore, Hong Kong and Australia to name a few.
Registrations are still open for anyone wishing to attend the IMBA summit. More details here.
