Kicking of our 40th year!

In 1977 French was adopted as the official language in Quebec, the U.S returned the Panama Canal, the first Apple II computers went on sale, and Between the Lines was launched (plus some other things happened). BTL has been making books without bosses for forty years and we plan on doing some celebrating. Stay tuned for announcements around events and some special give-aways!

Arthur Manuel
In remembrance

This January Canada suffered a heavy loss with the passing of Arthur Manuel. Art's passion for justice and his tireless activism played a key part in the struggles for justice for Indigenous peoples. We were proud to work with Art and our condolences go out to his family and friends. Art's passing reverberated far and wide. This memorial video from organizers in Idle No More highlights Art's work. Notably, mainstream media outlets such as The Globe and Mail and The Economist recognized the importance of Art's work and life. We will miss him.

The Vimy Trap!
or, How We Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Great War

By Ian McKay and Jamie Swift.

Do you or someone you know have a case of Vimyism? Well, as Dr. Steve Hewitt says "The Vimy Trap is an essential antidote. The poison it seeks to counter is decades of English-Canadian nationalist history, both of the popular and academic variety, which constructs positive meaning out of a bloody, devastating, and pointless conflict."
