Festival 2014 update from Jill Tattersall, The Wolf at the Door

[above: detail from Jill's Carpe Diem Sketchbook, Crete Sep-13]

The Wolf's door is mainly closed this May

The Wolf has decided to take a rest this year during the May Festival while he gets his lair in order and limbers up for new things.  He’s had an arduous year.  Building works, gardening and redecoration are still in progress.
But The Wolf at the Door is always open by appointment at any reasonable time.  There’s a newly-hung exhibition of recent work by Jill Tattersall.  Ring 01273 700425 or email Jill (jill@jilltattersall.co.uk). We’ll probably do several pop-up events from May onwards – we’ll keep you posted. In view: edible art, book launches and art shows.
Below is a detail of Brighton Glimpses, painted on off-cuts from our (still quite new) decking

And what are previous Wolf artists up to?
Just a few examples:
Si Uwins  (wood sculpture) and Andrew Jones (kinetic art) are showing work at SUSSEX PRAIRIES (see above) during their summer season, 31 May to 12 October.  During the BRIGHTON FESTIVAL Jonny Hannah (painting) and Si Uwins (wood and metal)  are showing at Ravenswood, 28 Florence Rd. Claire Fearon  is showing at Mister Magnolia in Ditchling [LINK] Campoli and Nelson (silver and glass) have exciting new work at 51 Wilbury Road, Hove
Jill Tattersall and Claire Fearon both have full-page entries in Arty Magazine's stunning book Brighton’s Artists 2014, just out, available direct at a low Festival price from its creators at their Open House at 12 Kemp St, N Laine (or contact 01273 670426, info@artymagazines.com)
Also, don’t miss David Nicholls’s solo exhibition, In Dreams, at the Jubilee Library during May.  Had we been open, we would have had the honour of showing his Cabinets of Curiosities at the Wolf at the Door
And Jill is busy outside of the Wolf's Door
Her work can now be bought online (ie no need to pass through The Door!), at Artfinder [link].

She will again be showing work at the Affordable Art Fair, Hampstead, June 12-15, with the Nicholas Bowlby Gallery [link]

And she will be taking part in Chelsea Fringe Brighton at Sussex Prairies  31st May - 8th June [click for the link] Little Paper House on the Prairie:  Paper-related workshops , exhibitions and happenings with artists, sculptors and writers. A large paper house and garden will be perambulating about the gardens; biggest outdoor art exhibition in the world.(see pic below).  Jill’s contribution: Postcards from the Prairies and concertina book.  Make, post and send a postcard from the red Prairies postbox.  Help to create a giant concertina folding book documenting the garden’s flora and (maybe) fauna.
it's a little house... on a prairie... in Sussex

And here’s something else the Wolf regularly enjoys:
For a modest price the BOOKISH SUPPER SOCIETY (is it a literary salon? a pop up restaurant?) offers home-made supper, glass of wine, home-made chocs, and bestselling authors who do a short reading followed by a chat. Next event is on Wednesday June 18th, guest authors are Julie Burchill and Julia Crouch. Naked Eye Gallery, 5 Farm Mews, Farm Road, Hove, BN3 1GH. Tickets: £25 from Dome Ticket Office 01273 709709 or www.tabl.com
