Meet one of AMWA's Anne C. Carter Global Health Fellows

Helen Pu

Helen  is currently an intern at Stanford in Pediatrics and a second-year Anne C. Carter Fellow. For her international project, she went to Uganda and worked at Kisoro District Hospital with the Albert Einstein College of Medicine. She worked with a variety of patients, including a number of older children struggling to live with congenital HIV and children with rheumatic heart disease who needed help with their diuretics or anticoagulation regimens. This experience helped Helen to better understand the difficulties that many families who may not read or write or speak English face while seeking medical care. Through her experience as an AMWA fellow, she learned to think outside the box a little more, which has served to benefit her patients immensely.

iGIANT Program and AMWA

The AMWA Student Division is working with the iGIANT program - impact Gender/Sex on Innovation and Novel Technologies.  We are looking for students to help set up roundtables in the following cities:  Las Vegas, Washington DC, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Boston, Detroit, and New York City.  In this role, you will help identify strategic leaders to invite to the roundtables, to send out the invitation, to monitor and follow up on the RSVP's and to prepare the agenda and attendee lists.  Advantages include working with leaders in many different fields and expansion of your own network. We hope to have dates for these roundtables in the Fall or early Spring.
