Komal Paladugu, National Student Secretary

First of all, congratulations to those of you who have finished STEP 1! As summer rolls around (or what little of it we seem to have nowadays), we prepare ourselves with new opportunities, a chance to breathe, and the possibility to continue learning about the newest procedures changing the world of medicine.  Summer takes on a new connotation as a time in which we can explore the avenues that  we don't have time for during the year.  Looking into research, learning Spanish to be able to effectively communicate with patients, and finally efficiently managing our time (maybe we'll make that a winter goal) are all at the top of the list.  Getting involved in AMWA is easier than ever with the "Faces of AMWA" initiative up and running, with AMWA hosting a table at the AMA Conference, and of course, joining our mentorship program.  Any ideas for improvement? Feel free to contact me!

AMWA June Advocacy Calendar

  • National Congenital Cytomegalovirus Awareness Month
  • June 7: Happy Birthday Virginia Apgar! The developer of the Apgar score, a method of assessing the health of newborn babies that has drastically reduced infant mortality all over the world.
