The AMWA Student Hosting Program

The AMWA Student Hosting Program provides 4th year medical student members on the residency interview trail the opportunity to forgo costly hotel fees by providing the chance to stay with local women physicians, resident-physicians, and medical students. In addition to helping defray the costs of interviewing, it also allows for students to meet physicians within the community surrounding their potential residency program.

Requirements to utilize the AMWA Student Hosting Program:
  • Participants must be National AMWA Student Member
    • Not a national member yet? Sign up here!
  • Participants must provide any additional amenities during their stay (meals, transportation, etc.)
To access the Hosting Program Directory:
Use your AMWA login (members only) to log into the AMWA website.
Then visit www.amwa-doc.org/find-bed-and-breakfast
There, you will find instructions on how to search for hosts in your desired location, connect with potential hosts, etc.

Our goal is for members to contact potential hosts and within 24 hours have a list of potential hosts in requested locations.

*Note to students: Remember that hosts are volunteering their time and space. Please be courteous and respectful in your communications and during your time as a house guest. Consider bringing a small thank you gift to your host, i.e. Starbucks card, mug from your medical school, etc.

Additionally, as part of our revitalization efforts of this program, we are currently looking to create an updated list of hosts.

If you are interested in signing up to host a student, please read the requirements below and complete the associated Google form.

 AMWA REGIONAL CONFERENCE SUCCESS!!!

Our Regional Directors and their leadership teams managed to organize some amazing events!
Check out some of the highlights from the Region 4 Conference!

AMWA Region 4 Conference:

"Women Igniting Change"

The Region 4 conference was a huge success!  The event provided the opportunity for students to network and participate in a variety of educational and networking sessions that both supported AMWA's vision and served to enhance their professional development in the field of medicine. Students learned about AMWA’s advocacy initiatives in human trafficking and health policy, and received advice from professionals regarding career choice and options, gender discrimination in the workforce, and family/work balance.  Both premed and medical students had networking opportunities, a clinical skills session, and participated in informative panel discussions.

Wishing you and yours a wonderful and restful Thanksgiving Holiday!
