A Note From Your Chamber Director...
Emerging Leadership Program to Kick-Off Year 2
The Emerging Leadership Program, developed by the Twin Rivers Chamber of Commerce, in partnership with Belle Vernon Area School District, will kick-off the 2nd year on Thursday, October 3rd.
The program is designed to inspire and empower students from 10th through12th grades to become impactful leaders in their school and community, and allows students to connect with community leaders, business owners and professionals, to learn effective leadership skills such as, problem-solving, team-building, personal development and collaborations that develop respect and trust. The program also acquaints students with community needs and provides opportunities for service and volunteerism.
Thursday's opening program will feature TRC Member, Stephanie Masters, a CliftonStrengths certified coach and organizational development consultant specializing in employee development, utilizing a strengths-based approach with individuals, teams and leadership. Stephanie’s passion is building talent within organizations to empower individuals to develop their skill and expertise to be leveraged within diverse teams.
Stephanie started her own consulting business in 2017 and currently works with several universities, non-profit organizations and manufacturing facilities in Pennsylvania and Michigan. She has volunteered as a facilitator with a non-profit organization developing community leaders called Leadership Washington County since 2011.
Through Stephanie's facilitation, the kick-off session will empower participating students with an assessment that helps them increase their understanding of how they are "wired" and how it will positively influence their academic goals, as well as preparation for the future.
The assessment will determine the top five strengths of each student, such as communicator, arranger, learner, achiever, maximizer, strategic, includer, developer and an array of other traits. Throughout the year, students will integrate these strengths into each program session to help them develop their individual traits and leadership skills.
The Emerging Leadership Program will meet one day per month through April, and each month will focus on a new topic, while adding layers and building upon the previous month. The chamber's relationship with Belle Vernon Area has grown significantly in recent years, and Dr. Stephanie McHugh, has been the driving force for administration approval, student involvement and program curriculum for the Emerging Leadership Program.
The program, partially funded by the Twin Rivers Chamber, is currently seeking an annual sponsor. For information about sponsorship, please contact the TRC at 724-929-3329.
Always Working for You,
