GRC RECOGNITION DINNER 2016
A Night to Remember

Thursday April 21, 2016 marked 41 years of recognizing individuals and businesses that excel in their community.  What began as Founders Day for the Rostraver Business Association has evolved through the years, with changes to the name of the dinner as well as the number of honorees.  In 2016 another new direction was taken with the categories being changed to The Legacy Award, The Visionary Award and the Young Professional of the Year.

Celebrating their 90th year of operation, The Legacy Award was a perfect fit for the honoree Keystone Bakery.  Owner JJ Georgagis spoke on behalf of the iconic business sharing family and business history, the loyal longtime employees and the expansion of new products and ideas that have contributed to the sustainability, growth and success.  JJ expressed his gratitude for the recognition and the love and support of the family.  The Visionary Award was presented to Jennifer Melnick Carota of The Counseling House for her forward thinking and leadership skills as well as her generous giving to the community.  Involved in many projects, the hallmark of Jennifer's professional career came in 2011 when she founded The Counseling House.  Expressing her gratitude to family and friends, Jennifer challenged the guests at the dinner to be a visionary leader, look forward and stay positive.  The third award of the evening was presented to Casey Clark, Off the Wall Arts, as the Young Professional of the Year.  Following her love of art and instruction, Casey founded Off the Wall Arts and is extremely involved in her community.  She highlighted her involvement and commitment with the Greater Washington Food Bank.  Thanking her family and friends Casey shared how a thought became a dream and then became a reality.

An elegant setting, soft music, and a superb dinner contributed to the evening. The common theme of vision, persistence, determination and humbled gratitude expressed by each of the honorees completed another event that was a successful celebration of our communities.

Special thanks to the following for their contribution:  Jake Cuthbert as Master of Ceromonies, Gina Lynn for the many tasks involved but especially the beautiful DVD Tribute, Jennifer Condeluppi for event photos, Pat Alberts for invitations and mailing, Pastor Custer for Invocation, Keystone Bakery for the delicious cake, Gene and Boots for the chocolate favors and The Willow Room for their outstanding dinner service.

Respectfully Submitted by Mary Esther Antal, GRC Vice President and Chairwoman.
