A Note from Your Chamber Director

DEC Scholarship Recipient Awarded
Yesterday, I had the pleasure of presenting Emma DeBone a student in the Cosmetology and Estheticians Program at Douglas Education Center with the TRC Scholarship.

Our Scholarship Program is funded through the generous support of donors and sponsors of the TRC Fall Classic Golf Outing. The TRC takes great pride in providing the young adults of our communities with opportunities to enhance their education and professional development skills. This is our way of helping future business owners and community leaders with their career pathways.

Magical Mystery Tour - III
Thank you to all who have participated in some way with the planning of MMT-III.

Sponsor acknowledgements, "bus stop" participants and donors will be recognized in this newsletter AFTER the Mystery Tour - if I told you now, it wouldn't be a mystery, would it? I can tell you that over 35 TRC member partners are involved with this one-day event - amazing!!

The event is SOLD OUT and our attendees are in for a great LOCAL adventure. Last year's event contributed over $14,000 to the Mon Valley economy, in one day. I am confident that this year's event will do the same, if not more.

Monessen Salvation Army Treasures for Children
The Treasures for Children Christmas tag distribution has started at the Monessen Salvation Army. Based on the number of families, (102 so far), that have registered their children for gifts determines the number of tags that are created. These tags are then hung on trees in businesses for customers to take, purchase the gifts, then return the gifts to the business. Last year we, the Salvation Army created approximately 600 tags for area children. The area includes: Monessen, Charleroi, Belle Vernon, Rostraver Twsp, Donora, Fayette City, and a couple more small communities.

The Monessen Salvation Army is looking for area businesses that would take tags to put out for customers to take. A minimum of 10 tags would be given to the business. They can take as many as they feel they can distribute.
We also have a program that adopts a family for Christmas. If a business does not want to take tags they can adopt a family (they determine the number of children) then buy the gifts on the tags.
Either of these programs would greatly help families in our communities. For more information or to participate, contact:
