A Note from Mantle House Mission:
We would like to share with you our latest blessing. God has blessed us with a resident at the Mission since July 1. Our resident is a 19 year old expectant mother. Through our Life Skills program, she is learning to cook, bake, good nutrition and shop wisely. She is also learning to maintain a garden which was planted by one of our volunteers and has eaten vegetables from the garden regularly. A staff member sees her weekly to assist with budgeting and money management.
She has worked in the resale store where she has learned customer relations, cash register operation, pricing, stocking and other retail duties. We have connected her with New Life Options where she is receiving Parenting Life Skills.
Spiritually, she has accepted Jesus and was baptized as a young girl. We have continued Bible studies and devotions. She has been a true blessing; a very mature young lady for her age. After having her at the Mission, my evaluation of her is: She will do well as a new mom, and will be well prepared to live independently with her baby. In a few weeks she will move into her first apartment about which she is very excited.
Calls have been placed to other agencies, organizations and churches for referrals. We hope to house more young ladies very soon. The Mission can house an expectant Mom until delivery at which time she will move to an apartment with the assistance of Community Action and other supporting agencies. We will continue to stay in contact with her through our follow up program.
Your support is helping make a brighter future for these young women. For this, we thank you. You are a big part of the team that is restoring hope where it may otherwise have been lost.
