|The 82nd Legislative Session Starts Tomorrow
The 82nd Texas Legislative Session starts tomorrow, Tuesday, January 11, 2011, and the stakes are high for children’s hospitals and the children and families that we serve.
Texas will have fewer state dollars to spend for 2012-2013 compared to the current state budget period of 2010-2011. At the same time, the Texas child population and the number of children who rely on Medicaid, CHIP and other public programs continues to grow rapidly.
The Children’s Hospital Association of Texas (CHAT) and our member hospitals will be working with state legislators to preserve funding for children’s healthcare and to support legislation that improves the quality of healthcare for Texas children.
You have received this newsletter because you are an employee or are otherwise affiliated with one of CHAT’s member hospitals or you have indicated that you would like to receive information about children’s healthcare in Texas.
Throughout the session you may be asked to contact your legislators before key votes. You can also help spread the word about the coalition among your co-workers, colleagues, and other business and personal contacts. Educate them about children’s healthcare issues and encourage them to get involved. You CAN make a difference!
