Digging the Asian and African undergrounds with C-drík Kirdec
It’s time to get beyond the geographic bubble – without resorting to narrow expectations of “world music” – and really appreciate the wide-open world of music making in which we now live. To take us there, CDM’s Zuzana Friday talks to Cedrik Fermont, who is evangelical when it comes to breaking apart old stereotypes and digging deep into the underground.
Zhu Wenbo is a man that has many projects going on all the time : Not In Catalog, No Perform, and Xiao Hong Yu Xiao Xiao Hong as well as performing solo and doing a number of one off collaborations with various people. Dive into Dubai’s Experimental Music Scene
English label Must Die Records is gearing up to release Easy Listening vol. 1—a compilation featuring experimental music and art sound from Dubai. We met with one of the compilation’s creators, Simon Coates, founder of the avant-garde UAE-based collective Tse Tse Fly, to learn more about the release. Check out the interview here. s*i*n (Singapore) / Karnivulgar (Indonesia) - (((2 Way Split))), new publication on Indonesian label Gerpfast Kolektif, s*i*n delivers some noise tracks while Karnivulgar experiments more in the field of minimalism and ambient music. I must tell I find Karnivulgar's track Manufaktur Artifisial absolutely mesmerising. Digital release available on Bandcamp.

02 September, Berlin, Germany (at Villa Kuriosum, more info here) : Shoushaun started to work  in experimental music at 2009 in Tehran, Iran and India. Shoushaun music is under influence of Eastern folk and classical music.  2011-2013, Performances in India, combination of music and visual performances: shadow play, puppet making, storytelling. Since then, they are researching in folk music mostly in North of Iran and digging in sounds and noises around  in any kind but no recording. Recently working in combinations between recipes and music, asking people to tell their own recipes, mixing this stories with documented sounds and music.
