Happy March everyone!! This past month brought so many “pockets of joy” — I hardly know where to start!
Promoting my book, Finding Your Fit, is the perfect example: traveling to discuss my book will never not fill me with joy! This Global Montreal segment was especially fun (I always enjoy hanging out with Laura),
and Daytime London with Bob Smith was a treat because I was on air for 12 whole minutes (a rare luxury).
Also, I am so enjoying training for the Banff half marathon; running in the (somewhat) warmer weather is not only a joy but my “bliss.” Are you trying to find some fitness fun — your bliss? If so, read my interview for Global News for inspiration and consider incorporating a few of these balance exercises into your routine. The act of trying to balance — and often almost falling — always reminds me of playing as a child. Talk about pockets of joy!
Last, I want to highlight one of my favourite columns from the month: my Huffington Post column on the three Cs of reaching any fitness goal.
This month’s recipe is in honour of ALL the awesome people I have met while traveling to promote my book! The recipe for the Breakfast Beauty Bowl was sent to me by Tara Clements. I met Tara’s fiancé on a trip to Halifax. After chatting he concluded that Tara and I had to connect. The bowl looks uber yummy — I am excited to try it!! This month’s exercise is partner Bosu squat passes. I am including it in honour of a recent Flaman Fitness Blog in which I cover the importance of having a fitness buddy.
Exercise of the month
Partner Bosu squat pass: Set up two Bosus, dome side up, about one person-length apart. Each of you starts on one Bosu, in a squat, facing each other. One person starts with a medicine ball. As you both stand up, the first person tosses the ball to the other. Both of you continue to squat and pass the ball for 12 reps.
