Happy birthday to the iPhone!  Today Apple’s iconic smartphone turns 5 years old.  My first exposure to the iPhone was in November of 2007.  My brother-in-law had picked one up in the US when he was here on a business trip.

I clearly remember he and I sitting in a restaurant in Johannesburg, South Africa playing with the icon’s and apps through dinner, which highly annoyed everyone else.  All I could do was think about the possibilities of how this handheld device would change the way people communicate and conduct their lives.

Now, just 5 years later, smartphones have indeed touched all of our lives.  It’s been amazing seeing the advances in apps for productivity, music, file sharing, video, social media, connectivity and entertainment.  What will the next 5 years bring for Apple’s powerhouse hit?  I’m sure they have quite a few clever ideas up their sleeve and we will keep you posted!

Apple's Making Changes that Can Affect Your App

Recent Changes to the search Algorithm Have Confused Many App Publishers

Apple's making changesAs Apple continues to change and tweak their search algorithms, they have made a change that should help promote well performing apps. This change should also help curb publishers "Keyword Stuffing" their title.

Apple is placing more emphasis on reviews, # of downloads, and time on the store. While this may be an obstacle to overcome for new apps, performing some marketing for your app should help overcome this.

Likewise, being smart about updating your keywords and app description should help with your rankings when users are searching for your app. Keep in mind, when you do update your keywords, you will have to resubmit your app to apple for a review, so you will probably want to take a look at your keywords the next time you release an app.

This is a pretty good review of the recent changes and how it affected one publisher.
