Two amazing articles on private prisons and the border militia, and Lawyerist makes an appearance in the ABA Journal!

Between conferences and my brother's wedding, it feels like we have been traveling non-stop since mid-September. I feel like I've gotten a taste of what it must be like to be a legal tech CEO, hustling to promote the product. So I'm looking forward to Saturday, when I finally have a full month with no Lawyerist-related traveling, and just one half-day conference in Minneapolis (with Jeena Cho!) that I'm looking forward to.

Anyway, I've had lots of time on planes to catch up on podcasts and my Instapaper queue, so here are three good links to check out this week!

1. Seth Godin on Building NewLaw

If you haven't heard this podcast yet, make sure you give it a listen. Seth Godin's insights into the trends shaping the future of law practice are provocative and worth 50 minutes of your time.

I'm just going to leave it to that. I can't force you to listen any more than I can force you to take any other good advice, but you'll be missing out if you don't.

2. Shane Bauer Goes Under Cover—Twice

After spending over a year in an Iranian jail for hiking near the border, Shane Bauer apparently found himself depleted of fucks to give, signed up with Mother Jones, and went under cover with the Corrections Corporation of America. (By the way, what exactly are prisons supposedly correcting?)

For an encore, he went undercover with a border militia and headed out into Arizona to "hunt Mexicans."

It's brave journalism and fascinating reading. It'll probably take you a couple of hours to read both, but it's worth your time.

3. TBD Law in the ABA Journal

Okay, I'm cheating a little with this one, but it's pretty awesome to see TBD Law in the ABA Journal! Also I like this quote:
“At TBD Law, we are going to build the law practices of the future and then drag the rest of the profession along with us,” Sam Glover, editor-in-chief of Lawyerist, says not immodestly.

"Not immodestly."

(Psst, we're accepting applications for the next TBD Law meeting, in February!)

That's all for this evening!
